Youth Soccer Discovery

Problem: Despite being one of the fastest growing sports in North America, parents are unable to find reliable, transparent information on youth soccer across Canada and the United States. This includes pathways, fee structures, rules and regulations, leagues, locations, codes of conduct, accreditation of coaches and officials and so on.

Opportunity: 

The development of a unifying platform that provides insights for parents and athletes at every stage of their youth soccer career. 

Solution: 

Start with education. Partner with soccer canada and regional affiliates to build an online educational property online that helps parents understand the structures and governance of you th soccer in their region. 

Secondly, build a discovery engine for teams/acedemies connecting prospective parents to their programs. Covering age groups, locations, teams/levels of play etc.

Benefit: 

Youth soccer is unintentionally opaque and organizationally fragmented, which results in a lot of uncertainty and stress for parents whose children are interested in participation. This resource would reduce uncertainty, provide clarity in decision-making and bridge the knowledge gap that persists throughout the sport at the youth levels. 

Current Status: 

Problem validation and market mapping. 

Have spoken with over 100 parents and the gap between expectations and reality persists (parents routinely put their children in increasingly involved soccer programming without access to reliable information resulting in negative perception across a variety of areas.)

Secondly, what resources are available or difficult to find and when found produces information that isn't pertinent to parental decision-making.

We've compiled an initial database of all soccer clubs in Ontario that meet "quality" standards as specificed by Ontario Soccer (an Soccer Canada) that includes club name, location of head office, ages served, level of competitiveness, and field locations.
